Drawing on Berenice Fisher and Joan C. Tronto's feminist care ethics — which defines care as all practices aimed at maintaining, continuing, and repairing our world — the chapter shows how this motif operates on both narrative and ludic levels. Protagonist Alex Chen navigates loss, institutionalized care, and interpersonal bonds, while her superpower of empathy emerges as a care-based survival strategy. At the same time, the game itself performs a care relationship toward the player by establishing a warm, welcoming atmosphere and drawing players into the emotional lives of its characters. The chapter further demonstrates that play practices within the diegesis — from making music to foosball and live-action role-play — function as relational care practices.
