It explores the evolving relationship between digital games and literary studies, addressing questions of literariness, cultural legitimacy, and archival practice. Situating games within broader historical shifts in storytelling media, the volume argues for a temporally aware and inclusive understanding of literature that embraces digital forms. The contributions examine four central areas: the interplay between books and games; video games as cultural assets and carriers of intangible heritage; sustainable strategies for archiving games and development processes; and diverse analytical and philological approaches to game studies. Case studies range from literary adaptations and VR fiction to AI authorship, software emulation, source code analysis, and cataloguing practices. By foregrounding interdisciplinary dialogue, the volume positions video games as literary artefacts, cultural memory objects, and complex media systems.
