He examines the UNESCO cultural heritage criteria for their ability to grasp and understand the cultural transformations caused by the digitalization of our reality. As examples of digital culture, he uses the practices and customs that have emerged in the areas of computer games and the demoscene. The purpose of the analysis is to identify deficits and potentials of current cultural heritage discourses with regard to digital culture in order to support a better understanding and subsequently a community-promoting approach to digitally shaped cultural dynamics.
